All on bloodworms, we didn't even bother to use herring yet. It was a fun couple hours on the boat. And guys, please stay at home this season. I LOVE feeling like I have the river to myself during this time of the year.
Sounds like a great day. You're right, nothing better than having the river to yourself. I was out there Sunday.

Guys, keep those boats dry. I don't think there is a single bass in the river ;). Probably not worth fishing at all this year. I didn't triple my best single trip total today. And we didn't do it in less than 3 hours ;) ;) We also didn't catch 4 striper to every herring we brought with us into the river. Like I said keep the boat dry and if you already launched it you might as well pull it out. Maybe try trout fishing?

Yes, plenty of sarcasm. South of the rhinecliff bridge. They hit on chunk like they were starving. 15 stripers. Biggest was 35" 17lb. Nothing under 22". It was excellent fishing. We even started to reuse chunks once bait was low, and both of us caught two fish on one chunk, but couldn't get the third on those same pieces. The bite died once we ran out of fresh bait pretty much. We went out with four herring total. All left over from previous days. Couldn't catch herring at all, but I think that's why the striper bite was so good. Not a lot of food around. High tide was 8am. We started fishing around 930. Current very slow at first

Late report, went out wednesday for the incoming north of croton. Caught three, 2 at 28" on frozen herring (couldnt get fresh) and one at 12" on a bloodworm. Thursday fished the outgoing for one at 25" on chunk. All caught in about 11' of water. Marked a bunch wednesday but I think the cold affected the bite.

No luck with bait in Albany today, saw a couple boats land fish out in front of Bruno wall, and 1 from the wall. Comrants showing up today was a nice sign. There are fish around. All fish I saw caught today were on blood worms.

Was planning on launching out of Warayas Park in Poughkeepsie tomorrow but our next president is going to have the city gridlocked. Going south to Newburgh instead. Any updates for Newburgh??

Thanks!!

One in Newburgh today on bloods (if you can call it that). About 23". There's a deli on Main in Beacon that sells bait. The bloods are $10/doz and about 2.5" long. So if you're in the area ... go someplace else!

Dropped the bass raider in for its first river run of the year. Got 6 fish on chunk, lost 2 missed a few and had a handful of other zips. Action was steady but not to intense early and just shut off by 10am. Almost all bites were very light and tricky. Friend next to me on a yak also got a couple. Think I got a fish for every inch from 24-30". No big girls today. Bait was fair but wouldnt say good in esopus cr last night but managed to limit in reasonable time. I felt sloppy early feeling Out some new gear and rod holders. Let a few get the best of me early but I dialed in and started wackin em. If I didn't have a few fumbles totally could have broke 10. I got a hunch I'll do better tomorrow
