shallow waters... sandy bottom... you can catch blues, stripers, weakfish, skates, sea robbins, lemon shark, sand shark, porgies and a few others. if you get anything big you need a pier net or you have to walk the fish to the beach which is sometimes a pain. I used to fish there but it gets crowded...

30lb striper.... Did get spooled once with 30 lb braid and a brand new Penn on a 12' Ugly Stick... must have been a shark because there was no stopping it.

Pier in Sharrot Ave. is not good.
also by South Beach.

if i was you, i would get permit in gkh and start fishing there starting april 14th cuz thats when season starts.

i caught 29" striped bass on tuesday on gkh
and on thursday i had a lot of hits but no bass.

apparently i had to let the bass go because the season didnt start.

permit is $50 if you dont want to spend money.
go to south beach. from there go towards the bridge at the end of the boardwalk. you walk offshore towards bridge about 5 min.
you will catch nice bass there but what i heard was that
those waters are very disgusting
so i dont fish there

Get beat up at that pier. I'ts a click and you won't be doing nothing but untanglng your line from others and if your lucky leave with all your belongings still in your car. At one time it was a good area to fish.

It used to be nice up there but it's more like a hangout then fishing spot. Plus you have people casting all over the place and you WILL be tangled every 5 minutes. When I go to that spot I just usually hit the sand. Last season there was also a fight up there and I dont trust my truck in the parking lot either. Typical Staten Island!!! All I want to do is have peace and quiet and catch some fish... I'm lucky if I can do that!!!
