It's been miserable all season trying to catch bait and from what I hear it's still lousy. Any chance it'll get better before the stripers spawn and leave?
You are right on .... at least for Albany / Troy. I have been after these fish for 20+ years and an inch of rain always ruins the river conditions for at least 4 or 5 days. Since we have had well over 3 inches in May that explains it.
It's definitely been rough, man.You and I fish the same stretch and I've never seen a season like this. I'm sounding like a broken record, but things just don't add up. Ffs folks, we're beyond the middle of May.. Yes, I've caught fish into June also.. It doesn't match up to our current situation.
Regardless of weather, water conditions and the start being early or late by a couple weeks in years past there were always fish to be found. I know guys out with gillnets 6 days a week and can't get their limit. It's unheard of.
