LooKs a little brown. But you should be good if you can catch some bait. I'm gonna give it a try.

Fished yesterday at I 90 bridge from 6am to 9am. Conditions were awful. Muddy water, tons of debris, no bait. Literally snagged in the back only one herring on a sabiki rig in three hours. Fished frozen chunks off the bottom with no hits. Water temp was 54, down 6 degrees from 60 on Sunday. Prior to the rain the the fishing was TERRIFIC. Caught 4 last Sunday on live herring and lost at least 10 others that hit and ran. Waiting for the river to clear up and warm up to get them active again!

i was debating giving it a go this morning ..... then found out i had to drop my daughter off to row at 530 at the corning preserve so that sealed the deal

no herring in 2 hours

the visibility was about 3 inches ..... but the flow and height were ok

if we get enough rain tonight to muddy things up again this whole weekend will be a waste of time ..... the ale house tournament may very well end up with the usual total of 10 fish caught

if tonight is minor it may clear up enough to fish by tomorrow or the weekend

the herring can't see the rigs in the dirty water ..... the captain i talked to who netted herring in the creek hadn't caught any stripers the last couple of days

i bet the temp dropped a little more after the low temps last night .....

all of this is really good as far as the run itself goes ..... sucks for the short term but really good in the long term

Ya it looks like rain for sure for some places but most of it ends up in the hudson.
the cold should definately keep the fish longer but when you take a day off of work u gotta go if theres a chance.
thanks for the updates keep em coming

Anyone know conditions of catskills? Going out Saturday, wonder if it will be less muddy down there. Also wonder if it would be easier to catch herring in catskill creek

Just got off the river at Albany. River temp was 50* and bait was very, very hard to find. We did manage to find some. We fished from Troy down past Albany without a single run. Fished live and chunks. Anchored and drifted. Main channel and along the shore.

Marked lots of fish but nothing bit.

First time I have been skunked this year fishing for stripers.
