for you guys down river havin trouble, dont give up. tough fishin makes me work harder. i do believe that alotta fish got faked out into runnin early which i think put a gap from the 1st main waves of good fish and the biggest should be to follow. if you wait for reports of action your way youll be to late but hang in n have patience and youll head off a big school within a week or so and have some great fishin.

I don't think anyone in the right mind would give up right now! I think this post is just a place for us to vent on our lack of fish so far. Plus I think we need to become friends with aNsky and justneedthat1bite so we can finally catch some real stripers!!! they have been kicking ass this year.

lol...thought so, the western side of the river looked pretty familiar. your problly one of the many trucks i always see across the way. ive always wanted to try out that way. seems like as along as you know how to get to the tracks you can fish dam near anywhere... kinda nice in comparison to being fished on top of at parks...tight lines

I just got back from a two day bender hitting my old stomping grounds in jersey, in honking winds and fighting Benny's at Roamer's and Flynn's and some other secret locales in which I won't burn. To put it bluntly, Helen Keller could be thumping stripers.
That being said, imho, could it be that the bulk of the stripers are still staging? Just a thought. Also, never pass up an opportunity to fish, even though its a pick, try every possible bait that you know stripers would chew on. I caught two last week on squid appendages (the two extremely long ones) and frozen sardines. Just keep it fresh, they are there you just have to work a bit harder for them.
I am in the Lohud also (Between Bear Mtn. and Nyack beach). Persistence pays off. Tight lines..
