if there are bunkers, there are bass.
i've seen your posts on the SI report and you havent caught a bass yet.
i've caught over 5 bass this year all around 25~30".
dont waste your time and money using eels.
Eels works good when you are on a boat.
if you use eel on surf, eels will hide and you wont know.
there are techniques by killing the eels so they dont hide but still.
use clams, bunker chunks, or blood worms.

if you want more detailed how i fish, private msg me.
ill give you full info how i fish

There are eels on Staten Island. I set a homemade traps with a conical inlet....like on a killie pot. Then keep them in a keeper at the boat. You probably can set a pot anywhere in a tidal creek, and bait it with busted crab. They absolutely go nuts over horseshoe crab eggs. Got to hide it though..........surely some good samaritan will relieve your " overcrowding " problem. Small ones are great bait ( ask Roccus )...anything over an inch thick hits my table. The wife runs ( wow....a two-fer )

This is just bad information. You just have to fish them right, like anything else. If one were to just cast it out and let it sit, you would be right, but that's not how to fish eels from shore. And, no, you don't have to kill them first. The livelier the better.

yea it is... eels are one of, if not the most universal baits, especialy for large bass on the palnet... you can use them anywhere...day or night.... live or dead... rigged, or as a skin plug.. this bait is a winner... from beaches.. from jetties from back river marshes... from shore... kayak or boat... or even swimming with the fishes... eels produce when other baits wont.. they are never a waste of time...and almost as good recycled via rigging or skinning as they are alive... try that with a chunk of pogie...
