Hi,

New to forum and live south of Hartford near the CT river. Last year we purchased our first boat and love going down river to the sound for overnights on Long Island. I think I taught my two teen boys every way possible how not to catch striped bass.

I'm hoping our luck will be better this season, and want to get a jump on things. We plan on simply fishing from shore where we keep our boat and would like some advice on bait and timing.

Thanks in advance.

Michael.

Strippers are being caught by the Jamacia Bay area and New York Bright especially in NJ also saw some nice size fish from the western sound so now is the time they are starting to get active.
I went out Sunday for a few hours but didn't have a touch but it was really nice to be out and defiantly got the cob webs out. Will try again thinking Fri or defiantly this weekend

I know where all this fish in Milford are camping out. Tons of fly guys every day. I can show you if you want. I have caught 12 bass already in 3 trips.

pray tell where ..... PM if you like
I was in the Gulf Beach area the other day but say not a single sign of life (although the chop from the wind was not helping) I may try and get out to the point this weekend one morning but not sure if the lady will give me a pass

no report form the bar wind was all wrong .... and my internal compass, thought the wind was going to be at my back :(

fish on and keep those flies in the water

Jim

Went to gulf beach today... not a single hit. Was out there for about an hour and a half after high tide in the morning.

Anyone having luck elsewhere? I've never really done much surf fishing in ct.. usually just when I visit OBX. Don't know where to look.
